B4x Turbo Upgrade Information

For turbo/engine setups aiming for over 500WHP, Nitrous injection or a compound turbo setup is recommended to reduce turbo lag. The IM500 is currently the highest output bolt-on Stage 2 turbo for the B4x.

General Turbo Upgrade Guidelines

  • Upgraded turbos require a custom map and can max out the stock HPFP and injectors depending on fuel used and climate
  • Custom manifolds are expensive and time-consuming. A/R turbine housing is important when fitting an aftermarket turbo
  • Twin scroll housing + twin scroll (divided) turbo manifold is recommended for optimal spool up
  • For setups up to 550WHP: 0.64 A/R turbine housing is sufficient
  • For setups up to 750WHP: 0.72 A/R turbine housing is recommended
  • It is recommended to use internally waste-gated turbos for the platform
  • When using external wastegate setups, the Turbo Smart Straight gate or VTT straight gate adapter allows OEM WG control using the electronic wastegate solenoid
  • Stick to using the factory DME for tuning and management
  • Port injection may be required depending on your power goals
  • Custom fabrication is required for oil and coolant lines for any custom turbo setup
